What every panel in the Novus editor does (audio, reactivity, engine parameters, colors, text, assets, layers and export) so nothing feels like a mystery.
Before you start
The editor packs a lot into one screen. The good news: it is organized into collapsible sections, and you only ever need a handful for any given video. Here is what each one is for, roughly top to bottom.
Where you load your track (drag-and-drop or Select File, up to 200 MB). It also holds a collapsible Audio Library section so you can swap in a copyright-free song without leaving your project. Loading audio auto-connects the engine's frequency reactivity.
Open by default. This is the how it moves panel: Frequency Focus, the Reactivity slider, Pulse/Burst intensity, and the beat-driven Frame motion group. Small changes here dramatically change the feel; the Tune Audio Reactivity tutorial is dedicated to it.
The sliders specific to your current engine: color pickers, speed, density, and a Sensitivity control on most engines. Every engine exposes a different set here, which is what makes each family distinct.
Nine one-click palette presets (Neon, Sunset, Ocean, Midnight, Forest, Gold, Plasma, Rose, Arctic) that push a coordinated color scheme across the entire scene. The quickest way to restyle a template. Covered in depth in Recolor Your Visualizer.
Text Overlay holds your Song Title, Artist Name and an optional Tagline, with size and position controls. Visual Assets handles image uploads: Background, Logo (top-right by default), Underlay and Overlay, each with blend mode and opacity. Uploading into a slot switches its layer on automatically. Branding is covered in Add Titles, Artist Text & a Logo.
Your layer switchboard: one-click On/Off for Background Image, Logo, Overlay Image, Song Title Text, Author Text, Intro/Outro templates, plus effect toggles like Particle Effects, Bloom/Glow and Captions/Lyrics. When a preview feels cluttered, this is where you simplify: toggle layers off while you tune, then back on before export.
Beyond the everyday sections, Beat FX applies coordinated beat-reaction presets in one click, Captions holds the synced-lyric workflow (with on-device AI transcription), and Intro & Outro adds title cards around your video. The deeper visual dials (geometry shape, twist, fog, glow, motion echo, chromatic aberration) all live inside Engine Parameters, so there is one place to push an engine further. Classic and Studio explains how the two editors share these controls.
The finish line: Shape (aspect ratio), Quality (1080p/1440p/4K), Frame Rate (24/30/60) and Format (MP4/WebM), plus a summary card showing the exact pixel frame and duration. Pressing Export opens a review dialog before the render. Full detail in Export Settings Explained.
You will not use all of it every time
A great video often needs just four sections: Audio File, Theme & Colors, Text Overlay, and Export Settings. Learn those first; reach for the rest when a specific video calls for it.
The four panel controls this tour spends the most time on, on a real canvas. Motion echo (feedback) is the one people are most surprised by.
Visualizer opacity
Time-based motion; default major cycle is 6–12 seconds
Glow
Motion echo
Whatever you leave set here travels with the link; the editor names the preset it inherited and lists what came with it.
