SW Agent reference

Everything SW Agent can run for you and put in a script, with what each one takes. It is made from the code, so it is never out of date.

How a script uses this

A script is a list of steps. SW Agent checks every step against this reference before anything runs: a function, a chain, a workspace, a setting or a value that is not here is refused, and the nearest real ones are offered instead. Nothing is guessed. Steps that change your open project are shown first, with Apply or Cancel.

  • { "do": "build_project", "args": { "engine": "tunnel", "aspect": "9:16" } }

Runs one of SW Agent's functions with its values. Every value is held to that function's own parameters. As a line of text: build_project engine=tunnel aspect=9:16

  • { "chain": "every_frame", "words": "night drive" }

Runs one of SW Agent's chains, its words read as a message would be. As a line of text: chain every_frame night drive

  • { "open": "mastering", "with": { "target": "streaming" } }

Opens a workspace set up through its own launch: only settings its page reads, with values it takes. As a line of text: /open mastering target=streaming

  • { "set": "mastering.target", "to": "streaming" }

Sets one setting by its key to a value, a step (+10) or a direction (up, down), held to the setting's own range or choices. As a line of text: /set mastering.target streaming

  • { "edit": "make the glow pulse with the bass" }

An edit of the open project in words, read by Classic or Studio against what is open, one undo step. As a line of text: edit make the glow pulse with the bass

  • { "each": ["japan", "brazil"], "steps": [ ... ] }

    Repeats its steps for every item of a list, {{item}} filled in each time. As a line of text: each japan, brazil: build_project country={{item}}

  • { "do": "send_file", "args": { "destination": "convert" }, "from": "previous" }

Hands a step the files the step before it made (an export, a thumbnail, a master), as if you had attached them. As a line of text: send_file destination=convert from=previous

A script holds up to 40 steps, a list repeats over up to 195 items, and up to 400 steps run once its lists are spread out. The typed commands a script takes as steps are /set <key> <value> and /open <workspace> <setting>=<value> ....

Open SW Agent or open Classic with SW Agent, and ask it to write a script from your words.

222 entries.

  • add_layer_assets

Add layer assets to this project: Searches Sonic Weaver's built-in editable visualizer Layer Assets library, separate from the external Free Library and the /assets backgrounds, photos, music and sound-effect catalog. It previews and filters visualizer parts and add-on layers, including country, animal and sport variants. Questions and browse requests are read-only; a named add request adds only that layer. ‘Add all layers’ requires an explicit visualizer and look/scene, adds only that look's current eligible parts, and refuses the whole batch before changes if it exceeds the 12-layer safety limit. Random picks are unique and preserve the base visualizer.

  • direct_scene

Direct the scene: Previews how a scene direction will be interpreted, including its actions and song timing, and waits for the user to choose Apply or Cancel before changing the current project. Apply changes only the exact project and Studio layer that were previewed; the edit is one native undo step. Never call this as confirmed without a preview token from the Apply button. Examples include graze, sniff, run away, howl, celebrate, wave, sports actions, and a creature's roar or its power.

Editor commands (49)

An edit step says one of these in words; Classic or Studio reads it against your open project, one undo step each.

  • Set a control: Sets any control of the main look or a layer to a value: a number in its range, one of its options, a colour, on or off, or its text.

Say: “set the speed to 1.5”, “make the primary colour #ff3366”, “turn on beat sync all”, “set the frequency focus to bass heavy”.

  • Turn a control up or down: Moves a control a little, some or a lot from where it is, within its range.

Say: “make the particles bigger”, “a lot faster”, “slightly less glow”, “turn the sensitivity down”.

  • Reset a control: Puts a control back to its default.

Say: “reset the speed”, “put the glow back to default”.

  • Change a layer's look: Changes the look of a layer (or the main look) to another engine or mode. Explicitly changing the visualizer/look changes the main look; adding a visualizer creates a separate layer.

Say: “switch the main look to the tunnel visualizer”, “change the visualizer to particles”, “make the logo layer use the bars visualizer”.

  • Add a layer: Adds a visualizer layer over the main look.

Say: “add particles”, “add a particles layer”, “put a tunnel layer on top”.

  • Rename a layer: Gives a layer a new name.

Say: “rename the bars layer to Chorus bars”.

  • Reorder a layer: Moves a layer up, down, to the top or to the bottom of the stack.

Say: “move the logo to the top”, “send the particles down”.

MCP tools (31)

What another AI assistant can ask Sonic Weaver through its MCP server. Connect an AI assistant.

  • list_capabilities

What this site can do, with live counts

The engines, modes and overlays this site ships right now, and the two surfaces that can run them. Every count is derived from the same registries the pages render from, so it cannot drift from what the site actually serves. Call this first when you do not yet know what is available.

  • find_engine

Find an engine from a plain-language description

Describe the look or the track ('something calm for lo-fi', 'reacts hard to the kick', 'geometric and tunnel-like') and get the engines that fit, best first, each with the URL that opens it. Returns an empty list rather than a bad guess when nothing matches.

    Takes description and limit.

  • get_engine

Read one engine's modes, controls and URLs

Everything the server holds about a single engine: its modes, the controls a person can move, which of those react to audio or can be keyframed, its performance budgets, and the URLs that open it in the Classic editor and Creator Studio. This is the handoff point: the URL is what an AI browser or a person then drives.

    Takes engineId and modeId.

  • build_editor_setup

Build a Classic or Studio URL with the look already applied

Build a deep link that opens Classic (/editor) or Creator Studio (/studio) with engine, mode, frame aspect, a Sonic Weaver free song URL, overlay, intro/outro template, song title and artist toggles, a Countries & Flags country, an Animals animal, a Mythological Creatures creature, a VJ Deck's own settings (deck: its layers, master effect, clip length, strobe and driving band), a colour that follows the music (colour: in words, or colorBindingJson), optional layers (elementsJson) and optional scene actions (what the animals, people or flag do and when: sceneActions) already applied. The visitor or an AI browser opens the URL and presses Export; this server never renders, records or exports.

Takes engineId, modeId, surface, aspect, audioUrl, overlayId, overlayOpacity, overlayTitle, overlaySubtitle, introTemplateId, outroTemplateId, countryId, animalId, creatureId, deck, showSongTitle, showAuthorText, songTitle, artistName, elementsJson, colour, colorBindingJson, sceneActions, lookVersion, timelineOpen and edit.

  • list_overlays

    The overlay library

Every overlay that can be layered over a visualizer, with its category, default opacity and tags. Overlays composite in the same browser tab as the engine.

    Takes category.

  • find_assets

Find Sonic Weaver's built-in music, backgrounds and photos

Search Sonic Weaver's built-in public /assets catalog: original music, sample loops, sound effects, backgrounds, photos and photo loops for videos. This is separate from the external Free Library (use find_free_media) and editable visualizer Layer Assets (use find_layer_assets). Built-in items that need credit carry their credit line. Our music, backgrounds and photos are made with generative AI and say so (aiGenerated, aiModels). Each result has its page, its file and the editors it opens in.

Takes type, query, category, noCreditOnly and limit.

  • get_asset

    One built-in Sonic Weaver asset

One item from Sonic Weaver's built-in public /assets catalog by its type and id (as find_assets gives them): its file, whether it needs credit, and the editors it opens in. This does not retrieve external Free Library items or editable visualizer Layer Assets; use find_layer_assets for editable visualizer parts.

    Takes type and id.

  • find_layer_assets

    Find editable visualizer Layer Assets

Read-only search of Sonic Weaver's public editable visualizer Layer Assets: look parts and reusable effect presets. Search by subject, name, engine, mode, role or category, including animal, sport and country variants. Results are compact metadata plus a browser link; they are not downloadable image files and this public MCP server never adds them to a private project. To add a result, open Classic or Studio and ask SW-Agent there.

Takes query, engineId, assetType, category, limit and offset.

  • find_motion_graphics

    Find motion graphics

Search the motion graphics: every look of every visualizer as a short video a person customises (colours, text, shape, length, soundtrack) and downloads from their own browser. Returns each design's page; the video is made in the browser, not by this server.

    Takes query, shape and limit.

  • find_background_motion

Find background visualizer templates and recipes

Search public Background Motion Studio templates, drawing recipes, shader names and starter loops. Results link to editable browser workspaces and static preview files; this read-only tool cannot inspect private uploads, split images or render media.

    Takes query and limit.

  • list_tool_docs

    Find tool guides and previews

List or search Sonic Weaver's public tool guides. Each result links to the tool and its guide, and names the preview type the browser page provides. Use the browser for live interaction; this read-only server does not render or export media.

    Takes query, category and limit.

  • list_editor_workspaces

Discover tools inside Classic and Studio editors

List the full creation workspaces currently docked in the Classic and Studio editors, with their supported capabilities, guides and direct routes. This is a public read-only index; use the browser editor for private projects, live previews, processing and exports.

    Takes query, editor and limit.

  • open_workspace

Open a workspace already set up

Build the URL that opens one of the creation workspaces (list_editor_workspaces) with settings already applied. Workspaces with a launch contract: background-motion (template, background, mode, workflow, shape, seconds, fps); generate-visualizer (template, reference, open); motion-graphics (q, look, shape, era, sort, track, beat, title, artist, seconds); intros (card, kind, style, title, accent, duration); thumbnails (image, layout, format, title, subtitle); assistant (prompt, chain, app, ratio, width, height, base, harmony, topic, title, artist, genre, platform, count, words, kind, formula, audience, result, number, seconds, scenes, bpm, beatsPerBar, aspect, quality, note, feel, videoKbps, audioKbps, targetMb, followers, views, likes, comments, shares, saves, minutes, sections, shift, format, target, measured, peak, headline, style, industry, take, name, role, makes, place, person, structure, value, from, to, mode, first, second, date, other, amount, unit, today, colour, mood, scheme, word, key, scale, progression, source, barsPerLine, start, text, depth, bevel, background, shape, move, subtitle, accent); music-video (template, story, song, aspect, pacing, title, artist); lyrics (look, lyrics, animation, colour, size); transitions (transition, duration, direction); overlays (category, q); screensaver (starter, reference, mode, order, seconds); albums (kind, title, artist, image); assets (type, facet, q, free, sort); audio-effects (preset); templates (look, use, mood, genre, shape, aspect, q, sort, view); layers (asset); model-3d (model, material, frame); mastering (preset, target); convert (preset, format); stems (tab); watermarks (style, name, handle, accent); playlist (package, name, shape, transition); stream (station, channel, engines); image-editor (canvas). Each setting goes through the page's own reader: one the page would not apply is refused with the reason, never written. Other workspaces open plainly. Nothing runs on the server.

    Takes workspace and settings.

  • ask_sw_agent

Ask SW Agent what it would do

Run SW Agent (Sonic Weaver's own scripted agent, v1.0.3, no AI model) on a message, read-only: it returns the function or chain it would run, the chain's steps with the data each passes on and the workspaces it uses, what it read from the message (look, frame, title, artist, country, workspace), and links that open it in a browser (SW Agent with the message ready, or the editor or workspace already set up). It also returns the checks it would make before acting (“thinking”: a contradiction, a missing file, a destination that cannot take the file, the best-practice rules that apply with their official sources, the facts it stands on, the values it would choose) and "How I would do it" in words. A help question is answered from the site's docs; a project or template request is answered from the catalogue. Nothing runs on the server: the visitor's browser runs the tools. Say which files the person has (attachments) so the plan matches.

    Takes message, surface and attachments.

  • search_help

    Search Sonic Weaver's documentation

Search every help article, FAQ answer, glossary term, tutorial, blog post, tool guide, engine page, overlay, motion graphics family and release note on the site (the BM25F index SW Agent answers help questions from). Returns up to two verbatim quotes with links to the exact section, the pages to read more, or found: false when the docs do not answer it (never a made-up answer).

    Takes query.

  • list_still_formats

Thumbnail, post, banner and profile picture sizes

The picture sizes the Thumbnail maker designs and exports, grouped (video thumbnails, posts and stories, channel banners and headers, profile pictures), with each one's pixel size, file limit and safe area. The Every platform section downloads any set of them in one ZIP. Sizes marked assumed in the source came from third-party guides, not the platforms.

    Takes group.

  • list_transitions

    Transitions and video effects

Every transition the Classic Timeline and Studio can put between two parts of a video, and every effect it can lay over it, with what each does and its page (preview, length and direction, and downloads: a sample clip, a transparent overlay and a luma matte for other programs).

    Takes query.

  • list_playlist_packages

    Playlist visualizer packages

The Playlist visualizer's packages: sets of visualizer looks that go together, applied one per song across a playlist that exports as one video. Each look names its engine and mode (see get_engine), and the settings it plays with in that package when it has its own (a VJ set's clip length and strobe).

  • list_music_video_styles

Music video maker styles and shots

The music video maker's pre-settings: its styles (mood words, palette, pacing), pacings, frame shapes and the shelves of shot recipes it cuts a song into. The video is built in the visitor's browser on the page; this lists the choices only.

  • calculate

    Calculate exactly, with the working

Sonic Weaver's calculator (its own engine, no AI model): exact fractions (1/3 + 1/6 = 1/2) and units for music and video. It turns bars and beats into seconds at a tempo ("2 bars at 128 bpm in seconds" = 15/4 s), seconds into frames at a frame rate ("how many frames is 3.5 s at 30 fps" = 105), and handles ms, minutes, px, percent, degrees, radians and turns, with functions (sqrt, sin, log, clamp, lerp, noise, the Penner easings, the superformula). It returns the result, its exact form, the working and where an error is. Describe a motion instead ("pulse the scale on every kick", "loop every 2 bars") and it writes a formula for a Sonic Weaver control, checked against the control's range, its cycle and the flash limit, timed exactly from the tempo, with every fact it used and its source.

Takes question, bpm, fps and beatsPerBar.

  • check_writing

    Check grammar, spelling and clarity

Sonic Weaver's writing check (its own rules and an English dictionary from WordNet, no AI model): grammar (a or an, "could of", "their is", repeated words, capitals), punctuation and spacing, spelling with suggestions, and clarity (wordy phrases, passive voice with a doer, long sentences). Each suggestion has its exact character range, the replacements and a one-line reason; the result also gives a score out of 100, the word count, the reading time, how easily it reads (Flesch), and the text with every fix applied. Mode `lyrics` and `caption` keep the writer's own capitals and punctuation.

    Takes text and mode.

  • list_recent_changes

    Recent changes

What is new on Sonic Weaver: the latest releases from the changelog, newest first, each with its date, summary and every change (added, improved or fixed). Give words to keep only the changes that mention them all, across every release. Default 3 releases, at most 10.

    Takes limit and query.

  • get_sw_agent_scores

    SW Agent benchmark scores

SW Agent's benchmark scoreboard, as the status page shows it: for each skill (routing a message, reading its details, answering help, planning chains and more) the share of test messages it gets right now, its top-3 score, the floor a release must not drop below and the change since the last version, plus what SW Agent is built from (its code, tests, documents and phrasings). The tests are written apart from what it learns from, and the release gate checks they never overlap.

  • run_creator_app

Run one of SW Agent's creator apps

Runs one of the creator apps on SW Agent's canvas with the same function the site uses, and returns its result. Read-only: nothing is saved. A value out of range or of the wrong kind is refused with the reason.

    Takes app and input.

  • list_editor_commands

Every edit SW Agent can make in Classic

Lists every edit SW Agent makes in the open Classic project when asked in words: any control of the main look or a layer (set, turn up or down, reset), the layer stack (add, remove, show, hide, fade, blend, rename, reorder, select), frame rate, quality, file type, project name, play, pause, jump to a time, trim the song, mute, undo and redo. Give an engine (and a mode) to also get that look's every control with its kind, range, step, options and default. The edits run in the visitor's open editor (the SW Agent tab), never on this server.

    Takes engine and mode.

  • list_novus_sites

List every site in the Novus network

The other Novus Stream Solutions sites and what each one is for. Call this when the request is not about music visualizers, so you can point at the right site instead of forcing an answer out of this one.

  • list_settings

Every setting of every workspace, as keys

Lists Sonic Weaver's settings as keys named workspace.setting (mastering.target, thumbnails.title, classic.bpm, look.speed): every setting of every creation workspace (from each one's own launch contract), of the open project in Classic and Studio, and every control of every look. Each comes with its kind, range or options, default, where it is by hand, how SW Agent applies it and the exact command to type into SW Agent (/set mastering.target streaming). Give a workspace for its keys, or words to find keys by name; with neither, every workspace and its count. Change one with change_setting.

    Takes workspace, query and limit.

  • change_setting

    Change one setting, checked exactly

Checks one key (list_settings) and a value as SW Agent does: a number in its range on its step, one of its options (by value, label or another word: spotify is the streaming target), a colour, on or off, words, or a step such as +10 for a number. A workspace's setting comes back as the URL that opens that workspace with it applied, through the page's own reader (other settings of the same workspace can go in `settings`). A setting of the open project in Classic or Studio, or a look's control, comes back as the exact command to type into the SW Agent tab of the visitor's open editor, with that tab's address. Nothing runs on the server; a value that does not fit is refused with the key's own range or options.

Takes key, value, editor and settings.

  • find_free_media

Search the external Free Library for pictures, sounds, music, 3D models and books

Searches the separate external Free Library: public-domain and openly licensed artworks (The Met, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art), skies, textures and 3D models (Poly Haven), sound effects and music (Kenney and OpenGameArt, served from sonicweaver.com), and books (Project Gutenberg, OpenStax). This is separate from Sonic Weaver's built-in public /assets catalog and editable visualizer Layer Assets (search those with find_layer_assets). Each item has its own licence, the credit line to carry with it, its page, and its file when it has one. Use the credit line wherever the item is used. Only compiled collections are searched, never live services.

    Takes query, kind and limit.

  • list_scripts

    List SW Agent's built-in scripts

Lists the built-in scripts of Sonic Weaver's SW Agent (its own automation, no AI model): the eight named ones (picture to project, a 9:16 lyric video, a countries batch, a playlist video, every frame shape, the release pictures, stream screens, an animal scene) and every chain as a script, each with the workspaces it runs on, the files it needs, its steps as they run (each one SW Agent function with its values, or a chain with words) and its text form. Give `workspace` (an editor workspace id, see list_editor_workspaces) to list only its scripts, or `named: true` for the eight. Read-only: scripts run in the visitor's browser on their own project, from SW Agent's page; members' own scripts are private and never listed.

    Takes workspace and named.

  • list_agents

    List SW Agent's agents

Lists the agents of Sonic Weaver's SW Agent (its own code, no AI model): the Visualizer, Editor, Writer, Designer, Audio, Researcher, Library, Script, Export and Planner agents, and Auto, where SW Agent (the controller) answers itself, hands a request to one agent or splits it among several and reports what each did. Each agent comes with what it is for, its rules, the kinds of tool it works with, its functions, workflows (chains, with their steps), apps and workspaces, the approvals it asks for, its limits for one job (steps, seconds, requests) and a link that opens SW Agent with a request for that agent ready to send. Give `agent` (an agent id) for one. Read-only: an agent runs in the visitor's browser, from SW Agent's chat.

    Takes agent.

What a script never touches

Whoever wrote it, a script works on the creative workspaces and your own project. A step that would cross one of these is refused before anything runs.

  • Your account: signing in or out, your password, email, profile, privacy, notifications, shared links, what SW Agent keeps about you and deleting the account: you change these yourself in Settings. Not in a script: share_chat, remember and set_agent_kind. Pages never opened: /settings, /account, /login, /logout, /signup, /sign-in, /sign-up and /api.
  • Payments: plans, subscriptions, billing, payment details, checkouts and refunds. Pages never opened: /billing, /checkout, /pricing and /subscribe.
  • Admin and moderation: staff pages, reports, strikes, bans, verification and other members' things. Not in a script: message_the_team. Pages never opened: /admin and /moderation.
  • Ads: the ads and the sponsor tab an export opens, which stay exactly as they are. Pages never opened: /ads.
