Files from and for other programs

Open .cube, .srt, .vtt and .lrc files made in other programs in Classic, and export .cube, .edl, .fcpxml, .srt, .vtt and .lrc files for them, read and written on your device.

Describes Sonic Weaver v5.26, released .

Read and written on your device

Classic opens files that editing programs make and writes files they open, so a grade, your captions or your cut can move between Sonic Weaver and the program you finish in. Every file is read or written in your browser and is never uploaded; what a file brings in is saved with your project, like any other edit.

Open: .cube LUT as a grade on a look

Where: Classic, Edit tab: Colour grade (LUT), on the look or any visualizer layer. It reads .cube files from Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut and OBS.

Adobe's Cube LUT format: 1D (up to 65,536 entries) and 3D (up to 256 points per side), TITLE, comments, DOMAIN_MIN and DOMAIN_MAX, Resolve's INPUT_RANGE, applied per pixel with trilinear interpolation by the V3 core in the preview and the export alike, with an intensity, saved with the project.

What it does not do: Stored at up to 25 points per side (3D) or 1,024 entries (1D) at display precision, so a larger file is resampled and the panel says by how much; values are clamped to 0 to 1; files over 40 MB, video-range keywords and a 1D shaper with a 3D table are refused; Studio has no LUT panel yet.

Open: Captions (SRT, WebVTT, LRC)

Where: Classic, Edit tab: Captions, Open a caption file. It reads .srt, .vtt and .lrc files from Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, YouTube and lyrics apps.

SRT, WebVTT (NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks skipped; cue settings and tags removed) and LRC timed lines, read on the device.

What it does not do: Styling and positions in the file are not kept: captions take the panel's style.

Export: .cube LUT of a look's grade

Where: Classic, Edit tab: Colour grade (LUT), .cube. It writes .cube files for Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut and OBS.

The grade as stored in the project, written by the same writer as the Timeline's colour grades.

What it does not do: It is the stored grade, so a file that was resampled on import comes back at the stored size.

Export: EDL (CMX 3600) of the Timeline

Where: Classic, Timeline toolbar: Export the cut, EDL. It writes .edl files for Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer.

One video event a Timeline clip, cut from the whole Timeline's exported video at its own frame and named as the Timeline names it, a LOC marker at each section, the sound as one stereo event; whole frames at 24, 25, 30, 50, 60 fps, the record side from 01:00:00:00.

What it does not do: Straight cuts only: transitions and effects are already in the exported video, so each is named in a comment rather than written as a dissolve; up to 998 clips (the format numbers 999 events, one is the sound); the clips are cuts of one rendered video, not separate looks, so a look cannot be changed in the other program.

Export: FCPXML 1.10 project of the Timeline

Where: Classic, Timeline toolbar: Export the cut, FCPXML. It writes .fcpxml files for Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.

The exported video as one asset (its media-rep a link relative to the file), one asset-clip a Timeline clip at its frame and named as the Timeline names it, a marker at each section and at each transition, the export's size and frame rate.

What it does not do: Straight cuts only, as in the EDL; the video must be saved beside the file under the name it gives (or relinked); no titles, effects or audio tracks of their own are written.

Export: Captions (SRT, WebVTT, LRC)

Where: Classic, Edit tab: Captions, Export SRT, WebVTT or LRC. It writes .srt, .vtt and .lrc files for Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, YouTube and music players.

Every caption with its start and end time, in time order.

What it does not do: Word timing and styling are not written (the formats keep lines).
