Check your writing

Press Check under a text box (a text layer, a thumbnail's text, lyrics, a community post's description) or ask SW Agent "check my grammar: ...". Each suggestion shows what it found, what to write instead and why: Accept changes it, Ignore leaves it, Fix all applies every fix at once. Above them: a score out of 100, the word count, the reading time and how easily it reads.

• Grammar: a or an, "could of", "their is", "its" and "it's", repeated words, capitals.
• Spelling: against an English dictionary of 222,000 words, with the nearest spellings.
• Punctuation and spacing: doubled spaces, a space before a comma, unmatched brackets and quotes.
• Clarity: wordy phrases, passive voice with a named doer, sentences over 30 words.

Lyrics and captions are checked for spelling and real mistakes only: your capitals, your punctuation and the words you repeat on purpose ("la la la") are left alone. Names, links, hashtags, @handles and words with numbers are never marked as misspelt.

The text is checked only when you press Check or ask SW Agent. It is sent to our server for spelling and checked there with our own rules; it is never stored or logged, and no other company sees it. If our server cannot be reached, the rules run in your browser and it says spelling was not checked.
