Optical Illusions

Six classic optical illusions that play with the music: wheels that seem to turn, stairs that never end, an endless spiral, a spiral that is really circles, sweeping moiré waves and a phantom chaser. Kept within broadcast flash and pattern limits.

Rotating Snakes mode

Rotating Snakes

Wheels that seem to turn while they stand still. The illusion fades in as the track builds; the centre wheel steps round on every kick and the four around it take turns on the beat.

Endless Stairs mode

Endless Stairs

A glowing climber takes one step a beat up a staircase that loops back on itself forever, lighting each tread it lands on; every tread glows with its own band and the drop sends a second climber round.

Hypnotic Spiral mode

Hypnotic Spiral

An endless spiral flowing in toward your cover art. It surges inward on every beat and pours faster as the song builds, and each new section changes how many arms it has.

Fraser Spiral mode

Fraser Spiral

Twisted cords that read as one spiral. A ring ticks round and lights on every beat; when the song gets loud they untwist to show they were circles all along, and the twist comes back when it calms.

Moiré Waves mode

Moiré Waves

Two fine ring patterns, one slightly off centre: as it circles, surging on every beat, broad waves of interference sweep the frame around your cover art, always the same way round.

Phantom Chaser mode

Phantom Chaser

Twelve soft discs round a cross, one missing at a time on the beat grid. Watch the centre and a phantom disc in the opposite colour runs round while the others fade.

Spectrum rangeHow much of the 40 Hz to 14 kHz range the visual spans, from the bass up. Lower it to give the bass and mids more of the barsAudiorange1YesNo
Frequency scaleHow the bars are spread across the frequencies. Log spreads them by octave, mel by how pitch is heard, and linear by hertz, which gives most bars to the highsAudioselectlogNoNo
