SW Agent, step by step

How to use every part of SW Agent in a few plain steps: the chat, files, the canvas, each workspace's tools, Auto and Manual, long requests and chains, carrying on in Classic, jobs, approvals, scripts, sharing, typed commands, memory, research, free media, and what to do when something gets stuck.

Describes Sonic Weaver v5.31, released .

Ask in the chat

Any time: ask for something to be made, changed or explained, in your own words.

  • 1. Type what you want, the way you would say it to a person: "make a vertical tunnel visualizer called Night Drive".
  • 2. Press Send (or Enter). I pick the job, read the details from your words and say what I chose and how sure I am.
  • 3. Read the reply: it says what I did, with buttons for the next step. If I was not sure, I ask one question with buttons instead.
  • 4. Change your mind with the next message ("make it slower", "now 9:16"), or press Edit on your message to send it again changed.

Open a file in a workspace

You have a picture, a video, a song, a 3D model, captions, a PDF, a font or a project file.

  • 1. Press Attach (or drop the file on the chat) and say what to do with it: "open this in Cover art", "master this for Spotify", "use this song in Classic".
  • 2. With no words, I list every place it opens, the likeliest first. Press one.
  • 3. The workspace opens with your file in it: on the canvas beside the chat on my page, as a tab beside the project in Classic and Studio, or on its own page from a tool page.
  • 4. Any file I make has Open it in too, with More places for the rest.

Work on the canvas

On SW Agent's page, the panel beside the chat shows what I made and opens any workspace.

  • 1. What I make appears on the canvas: a look playing, your pictures, a chain's steps, a workspace or Classic itself.
  • 2. Change it by hand with its own controls, or tell me ("make it red"): your next message acts on what the canvas shows.
  • 3. Open a workspace here picks any workspace to use beside the chat. Undo steps back through the last changes.
  • 4. Press Wide canvas for more room, and Open in Classic here when the work belongs in a project.

Use a workspace's Tools

You are editing and need a value worked out: a tempo, a palette, a frame size, a loudness target, a type size.

  • 1. Open Tools: the Tools tab in Classic and Studio, a workspace tab's Tools, Tools on the canvas, or Tools for this page in Ask SW Agent.
  • 2. Choose a tool. It opens with your project's own values filled in where it can, such as the frame and the look's colour.
  • 3. Change the values and read the answer as it updates. Nothing is guessed and nothing leaves your device.
  • 4. Where the answer fits, press its button ("Set Mastering's target", "Use these as the look's colours") and it is set in the workspace.

Auto and Manual

Choose how I handle a message that asks for more than one job, beside Attach.

  • 1. Auto (the default): a message of several jobs ("master this, split the stems, then make a playlist video") is planned into one chain and run in order.
  • 2. Manual: one job per message. To run several, pick a chain yourself in the Chains view.
  • 3. Switch any time; it applies to your next message.

Long requests and chains

One message that asks for several things across workspaces.

  • 1. Say it all in one message, in order: "make a particles visualizer, make it vertical, then export it".
  • 2. I show the plan as a graph of steps before they run, and each step lights up as it works. A step that needs something nobody made gets the step that makes it first.
  • 3. Each step's result is passed to the next. Press Stop to end the chain at the next step; what was made is kept.
  • 4. The Chains view lists ready-made chains: press Run to use one with whatever is in the box and attached.

Carry on in Classic

A long request on my page or a tool page asks to change or export a project after building it.

  • 1. I build the project first, then say which steps need the open project.
  • 2. Press Carry on in Classic. The project opens (on the canvas on my page) with my tab beside it and those steps already in its message box.
  • 3. Read them, change them if you like, and press Send there. Nothing changes until you do.

Run a long job in the background

An export or a long chain you do not want to wait for.

  • 1. Add "as a job" to your message, or press Run as a job under a chain or an export's estimate.
  • 2. The job waits its turn in Jobs and runs while you keep chatting. Its steps and progress show there.
  • 3. Pause holds it at the next safe point, Resume carries on, and Stop ends it (it asks first, and what was made is kept).
  • 4. When it finishes, what it made is in Jobs and in your history.

Approvals and check-ins

A step would change your open project, start a long export, or download something.

  • 1. Before such a step I stop and ask, with what it will do and what it costs in time or space.
  • 2. Press Allow to go ahead or Decline to skip it. Your answer is kept with the run.
  • 3. On a long chain an Agent with check-ins on also stops halfway to show what is done so far, so you can change course.
  • 4. Pressing Start on an export's estimate is your go-ahead for that export only.

Agent, Runner or Planner

Choose how much I decide on my own, in Settings, SW Agent, or by saying "be a planner".

  • 1. Agent: Chooses the job, acts, answers your questions, and asks when it is unsure.
  • 2. Runner: Only runs programs and commands: every message becomes a job, with short replies and no long answers.
  • 3. Planner: Shows the steps it would take first, and runs them only when you press Run. Questions still answer at once.

Scripts

A set of steps you run often, saved to run again with one message.

  • 1. Ask me to write one ("write a script that makes a thumbnail and exports"), or save a run with Save as a script under its reply.
  • 2. Run it by name ("run my release script"). List yours with "show my scripts".
  • 3. A script only runs SW Agent's own functions, each checked before it runs.

Share a chat or an answer

Send someone a reply or the whole conversation.

  • 1. Press Share under a reply, or ask "share this chat".
  • 2. Choose what to include, then copy the link. Only what you chose is shared.
  • 3. Turn a link off any time from your shared links.

Typed commands

You know exactly what you want and want it read word for word.

  • 1. Start the message with / : "/set mastering.target streaming", "/open cover art", "/keys mastering".
  • 2. A command runs exactly as typed, with no guessing. A wrong name or value is refused with the reason.
  • 3. Type "/keys" to list every setting you can set, and "/how" for how to change one by hand.

What I remember

Your frame shape, artist name, platform, colours and styles, so you do not repeat them.

  • 1. Tell me: "remember my artist name is Kai", "I always post 9:16".
  • 2. I use it in the next job and say when I did ("Using your 9:16 frame").
  • 3. See, change or forget any of it in Settings, SW Agent, or say "forget my artist name".

Longer, sourced answers

A question that needs more than one passage of our docs.

  • 1. Say "research" or "think harder" with your question.
  • 2. I read more of our docs and libraries and answer with each source quoted and linked.
  • 3. Say "make it a document" to keep the answer as a page you can download.

Free media

You need a sound, a song, a picture, a texture, a 3D model or a book you are free to use.

  • 1. Ask for it ("a free rain sound", "free pictures of mountains") or open the Free library on the canvas.
  • 2. Every item shows its licence and its credit. Use only what its licence allows.
  • 3. Send any item to a workspace, or put it in your project, with one press.

When something gets stuck

A reply or a step takes too long, the connection drops, or the page reloads mid-job.

  • 1. A step that goes quiet for too long is marked as stuck, with Try again and Stop beside it.
  • 2. Offline, I say so and keep what you type; it sends when you are back online.
  • 3. After a reload, a job that was running is listed as stopped with what it made so far, and Run again starts it fresh.
  • 4. If a part of my panel fails, only that part shows Try again; the chat and your work carry on.

The tools in each workspace

Every calculator and tool of SW Agent's is also an editing tool inside the workspaces it helps: a tool, not an AI feature. It opens with the workspace's own values filled in, works out the answer on your device, and where the answer fits the workspace, one button sets it there.
