Set up your creator channel and who can see it, run a private channel with requests and invite links, get the verified badge, and understand strikes, the community limit and appeals.
Describes Sonic Weaver v5.24, released .
Your channel
Every member has a creator channel, at /creators/ followed by your username. Visitors can follow it, and a follower can ring its bell to hear about every new post. Its tabs:
- Posts: Everything the channel has posted, newest first.
- Remixes: Posts that remix another creator's work, with the original credited.
- About: The full description, links and when the channel started.
- Albums: The channel's albums, each a set of its visualizers to play in order.
Running your channel
Open Dashboard, Channel to write the channel's description (up to 500 characters: the first lines show under your channel name and the About tab shows all of it), add your links, choose who can see the channel, pin one post as the spotlight at the top of Posts, and put the tabs in the order you want with Move up and Move down. Your display name, profile picture and channel banner are in Settings, Profile.
Who can see it
You choose one of these:
- Public: Anyone can see your channel and the posts you set to Public. It can appear in the community feed, search and search engines.
- Followers only: Your name shows to everyone; your description, links and counts show to people who follow you. Each post keeps the audience you gave it.
- Private: Only you and members you approve can see your channel and its posts. It does not appear in the feed, in search, or in search engines. Your followers do not become members automatically.
A private channel: requests and invite links
People ask to join a private channel, and you approve or decline each request under Dashboard, Channel, Members. Someone you decline is not told and may ask again; a request you never answer leaves your list after a while. A block, either way, stops requests and joins.
You can also make invite links there. Anyone signed in who opens one and presses Join becomes a member straight away. A link can expire, can have a use limit, and can be revoked: revoking stops it at once, and the people who joined with it stay members. The link is shown once, when you make it, so copy it then.
The verified badge
A verified badge shows other members that this account met Sonic Weaver's creator requirements. It is free. It does not mean Sonic Weaver has checked who you are, endorses you, or has confirmed that you own the music you post.
Settings, Verification checks each requirement against your account as it is now, says where you stand on each and how to meet it, and lets you ask once they are all met. Staff set the requirements, and the page says whether a member of staff reviews your request or the badge turns on straight away. If a request is not approved, the message says from when you can ask again.
Once you are verified the badge shows next to your name on your channel, your posts and your comments. Its tooltip reads: Verified creator: meets Sonic Weaver's creator requirements. Not an identity or music-rights check. A strike on your account can remove it, and staff can remove it if your account stops meeting the requirements or your channel's details are misleading; either way you get a message saying why.
Strikes and the community limit
Only a member of staff adds a strike, as part of a decision they made about your content or your account; a report alone never counts. A strike counts for 90 days, unless staff remove it sooner or your appeal succeeds, and copyright strikes count on the same ladder as community strikes. What follows depends on how many strikes are active:
- Strike 1: for 24 hours you cannot post, comment, follow members or ask to join private channels. You can still browse, listen, use Classic and Studio, save and export your work, and report or block.
- Strike 2: a warning, and staff review whether your account should stay open. You keep using Sonic Weaver while they review it.
- Strike 3 or more: staff review whether your account should stay open, and a ban only happens if a member of staff approves it.
Account standing and appeals
Settings, Account standing shows a community limit while one is running, each strike with the date it stops counting, any open staff review, and every decision about your content. Each decision says what was done, the rule, why, and that a person decided it, never who.
You can appeal a decision from Account standing for 180 days after it was made, and the result arrives in your inbox. A banned account cannot sign in, so its appeal goes through the contact page.
