Build a background-led visualizer

Animate a photo with editable image and drawing layers, V3 engines, local audio analysis, and export shapes.

Describes Sonic Weaver v5.9, released .

Start with a still or a recipe

Open Background Motion Studio to choose a site background, import a local image, or generate a procedural still with the included shader recipes. Imported media stays in your browser. The image is preserved; automatic layer creation is deterministic and user-editable, not semantic AI subject segmentation.

Compose the scene

Arrange, add, duplicate, hide, recolour and remove image layers. Add one of the drawing recipes or a V3 visualizer engine, then adjust its settings in the layer inspector. Undo and redo recover recent scene changes. Hover or keyboard-focus recipe and asset cards to read their preview details.

Create and manage your own recipes

Open Custom recipe and script editor to build particle, wave or glow recipes with controls or edit a JSON drawing script containing up to 12 layers. Scripts are validated data and never execute JavaScript. Save a selected V3 layer as a reusable engine recipe with its mode and settings. Edit, update, add or delete saved recipes; each card records its creation date and use count. Recipe data stays in this browser and appears in Background Motion workspaces in Classic and Studio. The profile page shows the current browser's recipe count and links back to the manager.

Connect audio and choose a viewport

Attach a local song to drive the V3 beat, onset and spectrum analysis. Use Output aspect and size for landscape 16:9, portrait 9:16, square 1:1, 4:5, 4:3, 3:2, cinema 21:9, or custom dimensions. Those dimensions are used by the exported PNG/WebM, not just the on-page preview. Custom exports are capped to protect browser memory.

Save, export and continue in an editor

Save the editable scene, save its full stack as a visualizer template, or save one layer as a reusable asset. Export still PNGs and 3–30 second WebM loops; the asset pages list locally saved outputs when browser storage is available. In Classic or Studio, open the Workspaces dock above the work area to use the complete Background Motion page without closing the editor. On phones, scroll the dock horizontally; the canvas and controls stack vertically.
